Time To Teach Fred Phelps About the First Amendment

Yes, it is time to teach Fred Phelps of  Topeka, Kansas about the first amendment.

The recent Supreme Court decision that affirmed his church’s right to demonstrate at military funerals calls for action by all who find his actions to be deplorable.  Does this individual realize that it is the very group of people that he demonstrates against that are actually the ones that preserve and protect the first amendment for all of us?  To have young children carry signs that read “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” is an insult to all who have served.  To teach these same young people that it is ok to desecrate the flag of our country stinks.

Maybe it’s about time that he really learned about the first amendment.  Maybe it’s time for people to start demonstrating across the street from his church.  His church, Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS.  Maybe we can get a group together to peacefully protest his church’s philosophy.
